At least one person was killed and dozens of others were injured during clashes with security personnel in Kathmandu, reports said.
Spokesman at the Home Ministry, Gopendra Bahadur Pandey, said a person was killed and three persons were injured when police opened fire at a crowd that was trying to attack Egyptian embassy in Lalitpur district Wednesday.
Dozens of people were also injured during clashes with police in different parts of the capital, reports said. Hundreds of youths gathered at major thoroughfares of the city from early morning on Wednesday and engaged in pitched battles with police at different places. Police had fired into air and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
The crowd, however, started to disperse only after the government announced imposition of indefinite curfew in city areas of Kathmandu and Lalitpur from Wednesday afternoon.
