Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs KP Sharma Oli, who is in New Delhi since Sunday, is cutting short his visit by three days “due to positive political developments” back home, according to Foreign Ministry officials.
Ministry spokesperson Yadav Khanal told Nepalnews that Oli would fly back to Kathmandu Wednesday afternoon. “The DPM is cutting short his visit due to positive political development in the country,” said he.
Oli, who had arrived in New Delhi Sunday evening, will land in Kathmandu by an Indian Airlines plane at around 3:50 pm.
He had embarked on the “goodwill visit” amidst criticism that he was visiting India without agendas.
The decision to cut short his India visit came as the ruling seven-party alliance and the Maoists geared up for a final agreement on all outstanding issues.
Meanwhile, DPM Oli held a meeting with Indian businessmen in New Delhi this afternoon, discussing the potential Indian private sector investment in Nepal, reports said. He is set to meet with Lal Krishna Advani, chief of India’s main opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party, in the evening.
He had met with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Dr Manmohan Singh and External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee yerterday.
