Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) toiled hard to beat Machhindra Energizer FC (MEFC) 2-0 to stay in third position while Armed Police Force (APF) survived a scare from Sankata Club winning 2-1 in the day’s matches in the San Miguel “A” Division League Football Tournament at Dasrath Stadium.
NTSC overwhelmed MEFC aka Red Lions with goals coming from Vishan Gauchan and left winger Anjan KC, but NTSC had a tough time controlling the Lions throughout the game. NTSC took a lead in the 18th minute through Vishan Gauchan. Gauchan shot past MEFC goalie Kiran Chemzong easily, who was caught napping.
In the second half, the match was mostly engaged in the midfield. Then left winger Anjan KC doubled the tally in the 87th minute to ensure the victory. Diwas Rai of MEFC was declared Adidas MOM.
The important three points helped NTSC stay in third with 32 points while MEFC is in 9th position with 17 points.
In the other match, Sankata Club rookies nearly put the brakes on APF’s wheels but the police side survived beating them by 2-1. Santosh Shahukhala continued his fine form scoring twice for Dhruba KC’s charges while Chetan Ghimire cut the deficit in the late hours.
Sahukhala scored the opening goal in the 30th minute while he doubled the tally in the 87th minute displaying some nimble footwork. However, Sankata missed some goal scoring chances, even hit the bar twice and only managed to cut the deficit in the 89th minute through Chetan Ghimire.
