NTB makes transport arrangements for tourists

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has made special transportation arrangements for air passengers and tourists to and from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) during the curfew period.

Chief executive officer of NTB, Tek Bahadur Dangi, told Nepalnews that the Board had made arrangements for special buses to pick up from and drop tourists at the TIA in coordination with security agencies.

Indian Airlines flight from Delhi and Thai International Airways flight from Bangkok arrived at Kathmandu airport on Thursday. “Tourists arriving from international airlines were escorted to major hotels in the capital,” said Dangi. He said that no tourist was harmed during Wednesday’s demonstrations in the Nepali capital against the killing of 12 Nepalis in Iraq.

“We hope the situation will improve and come to normal within acouple of days,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a press statement the NTB has requested all tourist and air passengers to contact its valley command office at telephone number (977-1) 4220000 to get information of the route of the transportation services.

The statement also said that all regular flights except Qatar airways,
Pakistan International Airlines and Air Sahara were operating to Nepal.
