NTB launches campaign in South India

With the objective of luring tourists from neighboring India, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) launched a new promotion campaign-Visit Pokhara Year -2007, as a part of its new brand Naturally Nepal – Once Is Not Enough- in Chennai.

“The press and tour operators meet held on January 18 in Chennai received overwhelming response from the press, more than 25 publications including the prestigious Hindu and Indian Express, 5 TV Channels attended the meet. Tour Operators also showed keen interest in selling Nepal bound travel packages,” states a press release issued by NTB.

Growth of tourists to Nepal in 2006 experienced a steep increase and it is expected that it will keep expanding. “Indian tourists accounted for 33 percent growth in 2006 and considering this growth, the NTB has targeted to attract 20 percent more tourists from India during 2007.”

Campaign Naturally Nepal – Once Is Not Enough will focus on tourists mainly from South India. “This campaign will be a tremendous boost to the tourists, especially with the religiously inclined tourist from South India,” said Nandini Lahe, director of marketing and promotion at NTB at the press conference in Chennai.

Meanwhile, the NTB officials also attended the Travel Trade Fair – TTF / OTM at Chennai -one of the most important travel trade shows in South India.

Nepal Tourism Board was accompanied by delegation of 8 travel trade companies is promoting Nepal under the new Brand “Naturally Nepal” theme. “More than 10,000 visitors attended the Travel Show and Nepal Tourism Board’s Booth was the most visited one. Travel Trade from Nepal received tremendous enquiries on Nepal especially on visiting Muktinath and Kailash Mansarover,” the press release adds.

Meanwhile, the NTB is also promoting the Nuwakot Festival to be organised from February 9-13 by Nuwakot Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The objective of the festival is to promote the unique natural and cultural attractions of this region as well as to showcase the different agricultural and industrial products of this region.
