Gorkha, Mar. 16: Minister of State for Women and Social Welfare Kamala Panta inaugurated the 12th district convention of Nepal Student Union Gorkha Unit at the B.P. Garden here recently last.
On the occasion, Minister of State Panta warned that the chief aim of the Maoist was to subvert democracy.
She said MPs and ministers belonged to the party and nothing could be done to the interest of the people without the directives and suggestions of the party.
Chairman of the NSU district committee Nirmal Pokharel presided over the programme.
A new district working committee of NSU, headed by Rajanraj Pant, has been elected unopposed on the occasion.
Meanwhile in Kathmandu, member-secretary of the Nepal Congress central publicity department and former chairman of Tanahu district development committee Ram Chandra Pokharel, in a press statement issued here, expressed deep sorrow at the untimely demise of Poornadip Paudel, father of the late Krishna Prasad Paudel who made the supreme sacrifice for democracy in 1990.
In the statement, Pokharel said that with the demise of the martyr’s father, the party has lost a dedicated activist and the country a worthy son. He wished eternal peace to the departed soul and extended sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
