The National Sports Council (NSC) has provided green signal for Sample “B” test in Rajendra Bhandari’s doping scandal after analyzing the primary investigation report of the seven-member committee headed by NSC Vice President Sita Ram Maskey.

Bhandari, who won double medal in 3000m steeplechase and 5000m race in the 10th SAG held in Colombo, found himself in the scandal after his “A” sample was found positive.

“After reviewing the preliminary findings by the committee, we are moving forward to defend Bhandari’s medals,” said NSC member secretary Jeewan Ram Shrestha.

The NSC has decided that they will take help of Ranbaxy, who has come forward to help Rajendra fight against the doping scandal. “We will go for the sample “B” test with co-ordination of NOC and will decide what we will do next,” Shrestha said.

Meanwhile, the NOC expressed its commitment to help Bhandari. “It’s our responsibility to defend the medals,” NOC said. Similarly, the Association for National and International Players (NNIPA) has pledged solidarity towards Bhandari. Gen. Secy. of NNIPA Kumar Karki said, “This is a matter of the whole nation. We must help him to prove his innocence”.
