New Road Team (NRT) stunned hosts Dharan FC Red 1-0 to enter the semifinal of the 9th Buddha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament in Dharan on Monday.

Deepak Bhusal scored the match winning goal in the 79th minute to steal the match. NRT seemed superior from the starting whistle as they earned a penalty kick in the very first minute when Sagar Ghimire of Dharan FC pulled down Binod Lama inside the D-Box. But Dharan FC goalie Kiran Chemzong denied the spot kick of Jeevan Sinkeman and the shot rebounded off Binod Lama.

Dharan FC could have scored in the 17th minute but local hero Rishi Rai failed to finish the ball after crossing the off-side hurdle. NRT still pressed hard against the host team and maintained their pressure game till the end to clinch the hard fought victory.

On Tuesday, defending champions African United Club will take on Sahara Club, Pokhara in the first semifinal match.
