Kathmandu: Nepal Oral Health Society (NOHS) hosted a reception on the occcasion of the centenary of establishment of International Federation of Dental Societies and Associations (FDI) here today.
Minister of State for Health Tirtharam Dangol, the representative of World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as the high ranking officials of Nepal Medical Council, Nepal Medical Association and Health Ministry were present on the occasion.
On the occasion NOHS chairman and chief of Dental Department of Bir Hospital Dr. Manik Ratna Bajaracharya said that the society since its affiliation with the FDI in 1993 has conducted many programmes of FDI like the first FDI-NOHS continuing dental education programme in 1997 with large participation of Nepalese dentists and dentists from India, USA, UK, Japan, etc.
NOHS has also been organising dental camps and street processions, etc on the occasion of the World Health Day on April 7.
Besides this, many camps were held in collaboration with NOHS-Netherland and Plan International at different places treating thousands of patients who are living in remote and rural areas of Nepal.
FDI in collaboration with the Health Ministry held its first oral health camp in Nagarkot on Jan. 1, 2000 to mark the begining of FDI centenary programme.
Dr Manik Ratna Bajracharya represented Nepal in the FDI annual World Dental Congress held in vancouver in 1994.
