Nobody has been injured in the explosion at the American Center at Gyaneshwore in Kathmandu Friday evening.
A Nepali official with the Center told Nepalnews that roof of the toilet within the Center premises and part of the compound wall of the Center had been damaged due to the explosion. “We don’t have any clue who were behind this explosion and why did they did it,” he said.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the explosion. Police, however, suspect Maoist rebels to be responsible for the incident.
The rebels had shot dead two Nepali security guards employed by the US embassy in Kathmandu in the past. They blame the US of providing support to the Nepali government to suppress their rebellion.
The US embassy in Kathmandu is yet to make its reaction public regarding the incident. nepalnews.com by Sep 10 04
