Nine student organisations affiliated with various political parties including the Maoists have lent their support to the ongoing agitation in Terai.
They have asked the government to fulfill the demands of Madhesi people such as federal restructuring of state, constituencies based on population and geography and proportional representation based electoral system.
The meeting of nine student organisations held at the central office of Nepal Students Forum (NSF) – affiliated with Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP-Anandidevi) – has concluded that “the agitation which started spontaneously is now growing dangerously.”
The student organisations have also asked the government to be alert about elements that want to exploit the situation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of NSF, Nepal Students Union (NSU), NSU-Democratic, All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), ANNFSU-Revolutionary, ANNFSU (United), Nepal Revolutionary Students Union, and Nepal Students Federation.
