The army shot dead nine Maoists in Bajura, Surkhet and Dhading districts Saturday, the Defence Ministry said Sunday. Five rebels were killed in Bajura, three near a jungle in Surkhet and one in Dhading.
Area committee member Bishnu Bista alias Bhukumpa, Dan Bahadur Rokaya alias Chitz, Raja Bahadur alias Rajesh and Prem Lohar alias Bikal were killed in Bajura. Ram Shrestha alias Sharan was killed in Dhading.
An army guard in self-defence shot dead one person who broke a security perimeter at Chyangtha in Panchthar district Saturday despite a warning, the Ministry said.
The army recovered grenades, socket bombs, detonators, rifle bullets from the clash sites.
