The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) team met with Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML leader Amrit Kumar Bohora separately on Sunday and asked the leaders to take initiative to appoint commissioners soon.
On the occasion, NHRC officials informed the leaders that it has been facing hurdles in carrying out investigative works of cases related to human rights violations and atrocities and in making recommendations to the government for further action on such cases.
The NHRC statement reads it has been facing problems in internal management as well as policy formation process.
The team suggested to Deuba and Bohora to adhere with the spirit of the ‘Paris Principle’ while making appointments of the Chairman and Commissioners.
Both leaders consoled the NHRC team to give top priority to filling the vacant posts. n
