The Nepal Food Corporation (NFC), which has been supplying goats during Dashain festival, the great festivals of Hindus has reduced the price of goats in this Dashain.
The NFC has fixed the price of 136 rupees per kg to goats up to 23 kg and 142 rupees per kg to the goats above 23 kg reducing 10 and eight rupees each respectively, according to reports.
The NFC imported 2700 goats to Kathmandu till Friday to meet the increasing demand of meat during the festival from Lahan, Janakpur and Nepalgunj.
Report quoted General Manager of NFC Khel Bahadur Shrestha as saying that the NFC started to purchase goats from local market with the aim of encouraging local farmers. He assured that there will be no shortage of meat during the festival even if the NFC did not import goats and sheep from Tibet.
The NFC also informed that it is allowing sale of goats only after the health check up keeping in view the health of general people.
NFC had been importing goats and sheep from Tibet to meet the demand of meet during the festival time.
