Newborn prince declared Shree Panch Nava Yubaraj

King Gyanendra Tuesday declared the first son of Crown Prince Paras and Crown Princess Himani Shree Panch Nava Yubaraj, a Royal Palace announcement said. An equivalent English title was not mentioned.

He is the second in line of succession to the Throne. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Tuesday extended congratulations and best wishes to members of the royal family, including King Gyanendra and Queen Komal, on the royal birth.

The Home Ministry declared Wednesday a national holiday to celebrate the occasion. The Ministry also issued a general appeal to illuminate government offices, temples other offices and homes Tuesday evening to celebrate the occasion.

The Home Ministry called for illuminations on the sixth day of the birth or “chaiti” when the Prince’s horoscope is drawn and also on the 11th day when he will be named.
