New Zealand company seeks permission to mint gold coins

The government is looking towards granting permission to New Zealand Mint Limited to mint gold and silver coins to commemorate the golden jubilee of the conquest of Everest.

New Zealand Mint Limited has sought permission to mint 2,000 pieces of gold coins and 8,000 pieces of silver coins to commemorate the scaling of Everest by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary in May 1953.
