New petroleum act in the offing, says Mahato

A senior minister has informed that the government is preparing to introduce new petroleum act to involve private sector in its supplies.

Rajendra Mahato, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, has informed that a draft of the act has already been tabled at the parliament.

Talking to a delegation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), Minister Mahato said the government was committed to exploit the country’s potentials for socio-economic development.

The delegation led by NCC president Surendra Bir Malakar put forth recommendations for the forthcoming three-year interim plan. Malakar advised forming Integrated National Import Action Committee and Integrated Valley Import Committee to ensure smooth supplies. He called on Minister Mahato to resolve problems seen in packaging and labeling, labour disputes and rights of employers, among others.
