Nepse marks good growth

Stock trading at Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) has registered positive against last week’s drop. This week the Nepse index growth marked a double digit growth of 16.46 points.

One of the highest growths in recent months, the index closed at 541.38 points on the weekend opening at 524.92 points on last Sunday.

The weekly turnover, however, decreased to Rs 132.9 million with 295,052 unit shares traded through 1,387 transactions, against the last week’s figure of Rs 174.6 million turnover through 449,320 transactions.

A total of 83 companies were listed for share trading, but only 60 companies saw their shares being traded. Commercial and development banks recovered with significant growth while the manufacturing and the hotel groups earned a little.

The commercial banks group gained 23.60 points and the development banks group posted a growth of 35.50 points. The finance group gained 3.83 points.

The insurance group continued to suffer with the index plunging by 10.01 points to end at 530.59 points on the closing day. The group had also lost last week.

Nepal Bangladesh Bank topped all other companies in monetary value – amounting to Rs 12,830,550 – from the shares traded for the week while Shikhar Insurance registered the highest number of transaction with 199 transactions. National Hydropower remained atop in terms of number of shares traded: a total of 50,130 unit shares of the company traded this week.
