Kathmandu, May 20: The over all transaction of shares in the capital market this week has witnessed a decline in comparison to that of the previous week.
Out of 53 companies listed, only 42 were involved in the transactions through which a total of 47,695 shares amounting to Rs 194 67 662/- were recorded in transaction, according to NEPSE
It is to be noted that a total of 45055 shares amounting to Rs. 22,819,741/- were in transaction in the previous week. The NEPSE index which recorded 347.7 at the very beginning week bulged to 347.73 at the closing hour of the weekend recording an increment of 0.03.
Commercial Banks index in the NEPSE index has come down to 375.37 from 376.9 of the previous week.
Similarly, manufacturing groups in the NEPSE index have oscillated between 345.53 to 343.26. The case of hotel sector is different from that of other sectors. The hotel sector in the NEPSE index has increased from 343.08 to 357. 57 and trade sector in the index has witnessed a slight decline.
In the group-wise transaction of shares in the capital market, commercial banks continued to occupy the highest position with 84.06 per cent share in the total transaction, whereas manufacturing industries record only 1.64 per cent, hotel sector records 4.23 per cent, insurance sector record 5.69 per cent and finance sector record 3.77 per cent. The situation of trade sector in group wise transaction is insignificant.
The NEPSE’s trading floor remained open for four days only.
Among 42 companies, Nepal Bangladesh Bank was ahead of 62 transactions whereas on the basis of share transactions, Bank of Kathmandu was far ahead of other companies in the NEPSE’s trading floor. The number of share transaction of Bank of Kathmandu was 8070 amounting to Rs 69, 52 230/-
In the group wise transaction, a total of 17023 shares (amounting to Rs 16,331,227) of commercial banks were traded this week, whereas 16150 shares of manufacturing and processing group were traded. The amount of shares was Rs 319040/-.
Similarly a total of 4253 shares belonging to the hotel sector were traded. The amount of shares traded was Rs. 821,220/-.
The NEPSE weekly bulletin states that following companies had the transactions throughout the week. – Nepal Bank Ltd. (Rs.344-319), Nepal Arab Bank (Rs.1355 ),
Nepal Grindlays Bank (Rs. 1965-1960), Himalayan Bank (Rs 1660-1650) Nepal SBI Bank (Rs.1030-1070) Nepal Bangladesh Bank (1390-1383), Bank of Kathmandu (Rs 836-881), Taragaun Hotel Regency (Rs 175-180), National Life and General Insurance (Rs 600), United Insurance (Rs 265-245) and Kathmandu Finance (Rs. 240-232), Everest Insurance Co.(Rs 200), Harishiddhi (Rs.3.6-4) and People’s Finance (Rs 180). Similarly, following companies had only one transaction throughout the weekend-Bottlers Terai Ltd, Arun Banaspati Udyog, and Yak and Yeti Hotel Ltd.
