Nepse continues bullish trend; gains 0.63 points

KATHMANDU: The Index of Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its bullish trend posting 0.63 points gain this week. The index rose by 0.63 points last week after heavy fall of 5.52 points previous week.

The index, which opened at 301.13 on Sunday, recorded a moderate growth over the week to close at 301.76 on Friday, the last trading day of the week.

According to data released by Nepal Stock Exchange, a total of 165,660 shares worth Rs 38.02 million were traded this week. Last week, a total of 502,283 shares worth Rs 84.08 million were traded.

The weekly report shows that the index of commercial banks group rose by 0.28 points to 327.31 from 327.03. Similarly, hotel group, insurance group and development banks group also registered marginal gains and closed at 177.90, 325.30 and 228.04 points respectively. Indices of financial group and others group also rose to 238.83 and 328.74 points during the week’s trading.

However, index of manufacturing group dropped by 1.77 points and stood at 272.31.

The trading group remained static at 134.84 points this week. Of the total transactions that took place over the week, the commercial banks group dominated the floor of stock exchange capturing 65.56 percent share of the total transaction.

Similarly, share trading of development bank comprised 19.54 percent of the total transaction, while financial group and insurance group were able to capture 12.92 percent and 1.03 percent respectively.
