Nepali restaurateurs honoured in London

Nepalese Caters’ Association, UK, which is the umbrella organization of Nepali restaurateurs in Great Britain, Friday, honoured some Nepali restaurateurs in London for their contribution to the respective business, a statement said Sunday.

They were honored with certificates and shawls (dosalla) amid a function organized to mark the Association’s first anniversary on December 26, 2003, the statement said.

Speaking as the chief guest, Royal Nepali Ambassador to UK, Prabal Shamsher JB Rana said it is great that the restaurant owners have been promoting Nepal and Nepalis in the UK by generating more employment opportunities for Nepalis.

“It’s my pleasure to honor those who have been promoting Nepali food and culture here,” Rana said. Other participants of the program said the establishment of Nepali restaurateurs’ organization in the UK is itself a very positive development.

Late Krishna Bahadur Thapa was honored on the occasion. The other Nepalis to receive the honors in the program included Kaluram Thapa, Ishwor Prasad Manandhar, Shyam Maharjan, Dhan Bahadur Mali, Rup Bahadur Karki, Badri Prasad Joshi, Ram Prasad Sharma, Indra Bahadur Karki, Gangaram Sharma, Sohan Raj Sharma, Bhim Lal Gautam, Gopal Das Manandhar, Ganesh Shrestha and Puran Lal.

Nepali artistes hosted a cultural program on the occasion. President of the Association, Dhruba KC chaired the program, according to the statement said. nepalnews.com mr Dec 28
