With the aim of attracting more tourists in the country at a time when the country is moving towards peace and stability, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) participated in India’s biggest Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from 1-3 September, 2006.
A press statement issued by the NTB said, “The TTF had become a good forum to interact with national/state tourism organizations, travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and resorts, transport operators, travel booking portals, manufacturers of travel products etc.”
A total of about 800 travel trade visitors and 9,200 general visitors visited the TTF.
“Nepal stall showcased an exciting range of pilgrimage and holiday packages for the Indian tourists,” the statement adds.
Three Nepali Travel and Trade companies, Amravati Travels Pvt. Ltd, Dolpa Treks Pvt. Ltd, and China-South Asia Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd participated in the TTF.
The trade and the general visitors inquired mainly about Shri Pashupatinath, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra (via Nepal), and holiday packages for city tours and sight seeing.
The statement further said around 20 journalists had participated in a press conference organized by the NTB on the inaugural day of the Fair.
The event took place as the tourist arrival to Nepal by air has decreased by 12.2 percent in August as compared to the same period last year. According to data released by NTB said, the arrival of Indian tourists had declined by more than 23.9 percent in August.
