The meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Technical Committee is taking place in the capital starting Tuesday to finalise the Detailed Project Report of the Pancheswor project.
After failing to agree on the terms and conditions for the sharing of water, the joint office opened in Kathmandu to work on the DPR was closed down three weeks back.
According to officials at the Ministry of Water Resources, a lot depends on the Indian side whether or not the DPR will be finalized.
The coalition government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba had ratified the treaty on the Integrated Development of the Mahakali River six years back. Though it was agreed that the DPR would be finalized within six months from the time of ratification of the treaty, the DPR has not been finalized even after six years.
