Nepal briefs Chinese travel trade operators on tourism

In a bid to increase the flow of tourists with the country moving towards peace and stability, the government of Nepal disseminated latest tourism information and situation updates of the country to Chinese travel trade operators.

A press statement issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said over 140 tour operators and media representatives were present at the press conference organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation in cooperation with NTB on Wednesday.

The Nepalese delegation also briefed the Chinese tour operators about the new tourism brand “Naturally Nepal – Once is not enough”. Special focus was given to the promotion of Nepal as a Buddhist pilgrimage destination.

Charge de Affaires at Nepal Embassy Suresh Pradhan informed about various tourism attractions of Nepal and requested all to contact the Embassy for information or assistance to visit Nepal.

Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Govinda P Pandey assured the gathering that peace had now prevailed in Nepal, which had been brought about recently by the people’s movement.

Secretary Pandey also informed that the government was in process of preparing a comprehensive new tourism policy and master plan for guiding Nepal’s tourism development and marketing, adding, “Nepal will not leave any stone unturned to make the tourists visit memorable and pleasurable.”

On the occasion, former Ambassador of China to Nepal, Mr. Li De Biao, shared his experience and tenure as ambassador to Nepal.

Acting Managing Director of Nepal Airlines Corporation Mr. KB Poudel said that Nepal was connected to China via Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Addressing the meet, Mr. Binay Prakash Shrestha, Director Nepal Tourism Board said that Nepal was a perfect gateway for the Chinese tourist offering pilgrimage, numerous adventures, cultural and natural attractions. He shed light on the new Nepal Brand “Naturally Nepal-Once is not enough” recently developed by Nepal Tourism Board for comprehensive marketing of Nepal. A CD-Rom presentation showcasing varied attractions of Nepal was also shown to the invitees.

A private sector representative, Bikram Pandey, presented in detail the various Buddhist circuits in Nepal and its significance to Buddhist followers.

On the occasion, two lucky draws, one for media and other for trade, for seven days complementary trip to Nepal including air tickets was also held. Secretary Shankar Prasad Pandey also gave away the prize to the winner of Nepal Drawing Competition organized by NTB.
