KATHMANDU: In the third and last game in the plate section of the ICC World Cup Under-19s taking place in New Zealand, Nepal beat Scotland by 48 runs. Nepal won the toss and batted scoring 205 for 5 in 50 overs.
The opening stand reached 102 before Yashwant Subedi got out for 45. Then Kanishka Chaugai went for 43. The other high scores for Nepal were Shakti Gauchan with 31, Bardan Chalise with 30 and B.K. Das 27 not out.
Scotland started batting after lunch and scored 157 all out in 35.2 overs. Nepal won the match by 48 runs and got a bonus point. Nepal’s bowlers were very effective with Shakti, Sanjam, Lakpa and Das taking three, two and one each wickets respectivelty. The other three Scottish batsmen were run out.
In Group Two, Nepal is 1st with 14 points followed by Namibia with 9 points. The team heads back to Christchurch and will play Bangladesh on Wednesday in the plate semi-final.
