Nepal is ranked 25th among the 96 cricket playing nations of the world. The ICC has published the list of 20 associate and affiliate members in its quarterly publication, Cricket Quarterly, based on the performance at the ICC Trophy and World Cup Qualifying Series II.

Among the non-test playing nations, Kenya is on top at the 11th spot. Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Bermuda and Netherlands-who qualified for the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies-are behind Kenya. UAE is at the 17th spot, on top among Asian nations, while Oman is at 20. Qatar and Kuwait are at the 26th and 28th spots.

Meanwhile, The Asian Cricket Council has given the green signal to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to host the ACC U-19 Cricket Tournament from November 9-19. The ACC executive committee meeting on Wednesday decided to hold the event in Kathmandu.

“We were confident of hosting the event, but there were some doubts which are now erased by ACC,” said TB Shah, CAN vice-president. “We will hold the event more smoothly than we had done before,” he claimed. “Preparations are almost over, and we are ready to hold matches in all the three new stadiums – Tundikhel, Nepal Engineering College in Pulchowk, and Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya,” he said.
