The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Thursday renewed Necon Air’s air operation certificate (AOC) and the airline is all set to revive its operation soon, a published report said Friday.
The airline’s AOC has been renewed after it cleared 15 percent of its dues to CAAN and it plans to resume operation next month, the Himalayan Times quoted a Necon Air official, as saying.
The AOC has been renewed just for two months since the airline is yet to clear all the dues amounting to Rs. 40 million, the daily said.
Necon Air is planning to add one more aircraft to its current fleet of two ATR-42-320, the official said, refusing to divulge whether the new aircraft was expected to be operational anytime soon.
“The revival of Necon Air will boost the aviation sector that is currently facing shortage of air seats,” Bikash Rana, president of the Airline Operators Association of Nepal said, welcoming the CAAN’s decision. nepalnews.com mr Dec 26
