Speaking at an interaction in Bhadrapur Saturday, Sitaula said: “Since the NC is the party that accepts the supremacy of the people and has been struggling against the monarchy since 2007 BS, anyone can guess the views and policy of the NC on monarchy.”
Nepali Congress, which is facing criticism from various walks of life for trying to protect King, is yet to make its stance clear in the issue of monarchy.
Stating that the NC has been leading all kinds of movements since 2007 BS, Sitaula said, the party should assume leadership to hold the elections to a constituent assembly (CA).
Sitaula also directed party cadres to play active and alert role in distribution of citizenship certificates and help update voters’ list
Meanwhile, chairperson of the Majhi Welfare Committee, Jogendra Bahadur Majhi, submitted an 11-point memorandum to Sitaula.
Among other things, the memorandum has demanded conservation of culture and tradition of the Majhi people and free education for the Majhi children. The Nepali Bangali Society also submitted a memorandum to Sitaula.
