Kathmandu, June 20: The ruling Nepali Congress welcomed the report of the high level panel on the incident of Royal Palace in which ten members of Royal family were killed.

The emergency meeting of the Nepali Congress central committee that was called Wednesday said the panel comprising of Chief Justice Keshav Prasad Upadhyaya and Speaker Taranath Ranabhat collected facts relating to the incident and presented them to the people.

The Nepali Congress central committee also discussed the strategy of the party to be taken in the forthcoming 20th session of parliament, which is being convened from June 25. It decided to move ahead with unity in parliament and defended the recently announced new Public Security Regulation. This regulation was brought about abolishing some authoritarian provisions of the earlier Public Security Act, said Narahari Acharya, spokesman of the Nepali Congress.

However, some central committee members opposed the new Public Security Regulation announced by the government, a central committee member said. Opposition parties have opposed the new Public Security Regulation and have demanded its immediate withdrawal.
