The Nepali Congress has finally submitted its suggestions to the Interim Constitution Drafting Committee (ICDC) Wednesday afternoon amidst a prgramme organised at the party’s parliamentary office at Singha Durbar.
The party had finalized its eight-point suggestion to be presented to the ICDC during a meeting held at the prime minister’s residence in the morning.

The party meeting concluded that the fate of monarchy will be decided by the constituent assembly polls and that the kingship will remain for the interim period since the proclamation of the House of Representatives on May 18 did not state otherwise.

Earlier, after the meeting at the prime minister’s residence, Arjun Narsingh KC said the party has finalised the eight-point suggestion for the ICDC having the provision of an interim parliament and involving the Maoists in the interim constitution.

The party also decided that the election to the constituent assembly should be mixed and inclusive. The party decided to work out how the interim constitution can be made inclusive and the possibility of transforming the current parliament into an interim one.

The party has not changed anything of the House declaration and other amendments made by the House.

The other major partner of the coalition government, UML, has already submitted its 23-point suggestions stating that a referendum should be held for deciding the fate of monarchy before the constituent assembly polls were held.
