POKHARA, Nov 8 – Former minister for Home Affairs and Central Working Committee member of the ruling Nepali Congress Govinda Raj Joshi on Wednesday said that the party has got itself entangled in a “conspiracy” with the release of Maoist Central Committee member Dinesh Sharma and party worker Dinanath Gautam.
Addressing a meeting of party workers here, former minister Joshi said, “Even in earlier days, I insisted that their (Maoists’) proposal for talks with the government was nothing more than their political strategy and conspiracy. NC should not be seduced by such conspiracy.”
Joshi claimed that Central Committee member of Maoist party signed a paper “to succeed in their strategy”.
Joshi went to the extent of saying that two contradictory views had emerged within the NC party in relation to the Maoist issue.
Former home minister Joshi was forced to resign from his post following the Maoist’s daring raid on Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpa on September 25 and at Bhorletar police station in Lamjung on September 27.
Before he resigned, he accused the Royal Nepal Army of staying-put despite his call for military reinforcement to avert possible Maoist attack on the district headquarters.
In a press meet prior to his resignation, Joshi had come down heavily on former prime minister and convenor of the high level recommendation committee for resolution of Maoist problem Sher Bahadur Deuba for being sympathetic to the insurgents.
