As the country is heading towards elections for the constituent assembly, a major constituent in the ruling Seven Party Alliance– Nepali Congress (NC)– has started collecting suggesetions from its party cadres and sister organisations on the modalities of the proposed interim constitution.
A press statement issued by the acting chief secretary of the party, Shobhakar Parajuli, called for suggestions from the district party chiefs, general assembly (Mahasamiti) members, lawmakers and sister organizations of the party.
The party also formed a 15-member committee headed by the party’s Chief Whip in the parliament Ananda Prasad Dhungana to resolve the citizenship problem.
The government and the Maoists had formed an interim constitution drafting committee to draw an interim constitution to go for the elections of the constituent assembly.
The committee headed by former Justice of the Supreme Court Laxman Prasad Aryal has the mandate of preparing the constitution within 15-days.
