Rajbiraj, May 23: The Nepali Congress, district working committee, Saptari has made it clear that Raman Alias Premesh Kumar Choudhari, a town council member of Rajbiraj Municipality, Ward No. 8 who was held by police in possession of illegal arms is not even an ordinary member of the Nepali Congress Party.
During a press meet held by the party here Sunday, acting president of the committee Nagendra Jha said the accused was been expelled from the party in 2056 BS and the party central office apprised accordingly for supporting an independent candidate during thE parliamentary election and also for repeated absence from the first town council meeting in disregard of party orders.
The accused was apprehended by police Thursday in possession of a pistol, 14 pieces of ammunition and a machete.
A couple of letters addressing to local businessmen in the name of the Maoists and some face masks were also seized when police raided his home.
Police nabbed him at Bhaluwahi bridge on Rajdevi road when he was on his way to see Koshi Pump Canal Irrigation office chief Shatrughan Prasad Singh to collect Rs. 55,000 as per a letter sent to him.
During the press meet, acting commitee president Jha said that the Nepali Congress will help the police administration take stern action against whosoever is involved in fraud on the pretext of Maoist activity.
