The meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party was postponed inconclusively after the NC lawmakers expressed strong reservation over the 8-point deal and against its party members in the government.
The lawmakers tabled proposals on amending the 8-point understanding reached between the ruling seven political parties and Maoists, to pass an impeachment motion against the Chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Suryanath Upadhya, and to make public the findings of the Property Investigation Commission.
Lawmakers have been expressing serious reservation over the provision of dissolving the House of Representatives before Maoists join an interim government after adopting an interim statute and charged that the agreement was done in haste without proper discussion in the party.
On Monday’s meeting, the lawmakers demanded the resignation of Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula saying he failed to work as per the people’s aspiration expressed during the popular movement of the country.
Lawmakers also expressed serious objection on the report of rebels buying arms and running a temporary camp at Kamidanda of Kavre and demanded the government’s answer in this regard.
The meeting was postponed for Wednesday after the lawmakers continued to react in the contemporary issues.
Home Minister Sitaula, who is the chief government negotiator, will answer the queries of lawmakers on Wednesday.
The meeting of the parliamentary party was postponed two times due to intra-party dispute.
