Kusma, June 4: Former Prime Minister and NC central member Sher Bahadur Deuba said the Nepali Congress is committed to building a prosperous and just society by banishing poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, social discrimination and anomalies.
Addressing a mass meeting organised by the Nepali Congress here today, Mr Deuba said frequent changes in the government gives rise to political instability and this obstructs development works in the country.
Maoists are taking advantage of poverty, unemployment and illitreacy in the country, he added.
Mr Deuba said as the people are the supreme in democracy, the party leaders and workers should serve them.
MPs Dilliraj Sharma, Tanka Prasad Sharma Kandel, Arjun Prasad Joshi, Nawaraj Gurung, Dr. Yagya Prasad Adhikari and other speakers also expressed their views at the function chaired by vice-president of NC Parbat district committee Lalkaji Gurung.
