Talking to Nepalnews, Sunday, Chairman of FNCCI, Chandi Raj Dhakal, has said that they will be compelled to close the shutters of their enterprises, if the government did not provide security to the industries.

Stating that the industrial sector is facing pressure in the name of trade union movement, reform process of the government, lack of security and extortion drive of the Maoists, Dhakal informed that the national assembly would concentrate in these issues.

“We will discuss the problems being faced by the industrial sector of the country and present our recommendation to the concerned side, but if they failed to address these issues we will not be able to operate our business until there is conducive environment for running business,” he added.

He opposed the government’s move of taking action against the willful defaulters without discrimination against the willful defaulters and defaulters by circumstance.

He also expressed strong dissatisfaction over the trade union movement and extortion drive of the Maoists.

“The demands of trade union are not viable and they are doing politics in the name of trade union, so such activities should be checked immediately,” he added.

“A future strategy to tackle increased incidents of extortions and insecurity will be formed and we will also urge government to take practical measures on bad loan recovery, after the meeting,” Dhakal informed.

“Businessmen and industrialists are not only terrorised by extortions and donation spree but have also been physically abused, so how can we operate business in such situation?” he questioned.

The national assembly, which is scheduled for Monday in Birgunj, will bring together representatives of all the chambers of commerce under FNCCI throughout the country.

The private sector representatives will thoroughly discuss on current problems, particularly increasing extortions, trade union related problems and initiatives taken by the government in bad loan recovery.
