Hindus are celebrating the Nag (the serpent god) Panchami festival across the Kingdom on Tuesday.
Honoring the serpent god, the devotees perform pooja and paste portraits of Nags over the main gates of their houses. According to Hindu scriptures, the serpent-gods are protector of earth and associated to rain. People believe that worship of Nagas insures that there will be no drought.
In Kathmandu devotees gather at Nag Pokhari to perform pooja and pay respect to the serpent gods.
