The Nepalese Americas Council (NAC), has elected a Board of Directors headed by Dr. Ambika Prasad Adhikari for a term of two years.
A press release issued by the NAC said, Dr. Tara Niraula, Pramod Sharma, Dr. Narayan Rajbhandari, Dr. Ram N. Sah, Anand Tiwari, Dr. Jit Baral, Dr. Tulsi Dharel and Dr. Hari Deuja have been appointed vice presidents of the NAC, while Mukesh Singh has been appointed to the post of General Secretary.
Gouri Joshi and Sagar Onta were appointed to the posts of Membership Coordinator and Nepal Affairs Coordinator respectively.
The release further said, “ The NAC was established in 1991 with a view to coordinate the common agenda of the many Nepal and Nepali and organizations all across North America are members of NAC.”
After being appointed for the post of President, Dr. Adhikari has outlined that in the coming two years the NAC Board will mainly concentrate on three areas.
She informed that firstly, NAC would enhance NAC’s role in supporting the aspirations of its members and the Nepali Diaspora in North America . Second, it will play an active role in promoting and supporting the objectives of the global Non Resident Nepalis (NRN) movement, with particular emphasis to the NRN initiatives in North America . Third, NAC wishes to play a role in supporting the advancement of democracy, development, peace and human right related activities in Nepal .
The NAC also urged for good will and support from the North American Nepali Diaspora and the interested people in Nepal and elsewhere to meet these objectives.
