Siraha, June 19: Siraha Bazar, headquarters of Siraha district, was totally closed today following the murder of Chandra Narayan Yadav, Nepali Congress general committee member and member of the party district working committee.

Following the incident, Minister for Information and Communications Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta, Deputy Speaker Chitra Lekha Yadav and NC general secretary Sushil Koirala arrived here today.

The wife of the late Yadav went into a coma at the time of his murder.

On Sunday, two unidentified assailants have killed Chandra Narayan Yadav, Nepali Congress Mahasamiti member and member of the party district working committee, Siraha at 6: 00 am today while he was on a morning walk.

The assailants were arrested with the joint efforts of the police and local people. They were hiding at Tarapatti Tole in Laxminiya VDC after killing Mahasamiti member Yadav.

Those arrested have identified themselves as Rambabu Raya of Meharattar Patti in Madhubani district, India and Bisweswor Raya of Tarapatti tole, Laxminiya VDC, Siraha district.

Yadav was shot in the chest with what is believed to be an automatic weapon, according to Dr. Dhruba Prasad Singh of Siraha hospital.

The scene of the incident was strewn with pamphlets of the Dhanusha-Siraha joint committee of the CPN (Maoists). After killing Yadav, the Maoists also chanted the slogan ‘long live Maoism’, according to local residents.
