Mahendra Police Club (MPC) beat Armed Police Force (APF) 2-1 while the Army team beat Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) by the same score in the ANFA Martyrs’ “A” Division league which resumed from today at Dashrath Stadium.
Ananta Thapa scored a superb curling goal early in the 12th minute to put MPC up by one goal. They then doubled the tally in the 71st minute through Ramesh Budhathoki. Budhathoki scored an excellent header off MPC skipper Hari Khadka’s corner kick. Then in the 80th minute, APF got one goal back through an own goal by Deepak Poudel while clearing a shot by APF’s Ganesh Lawati.
MPC could have got one more goal in the 85th minute, but skipper Hari Khadka’s penalty kick was saved by lanky APF goalie Samit Rajbhandari
Similarly, the Army men defeated JYC by same margin in the second match played at same venue. Raju Tamang netted the first goal in the 15th minute utilizing a cross off Bisho Bairag Samal while Shiva Chowdhary scored an excellent goal in the 26th minute to ensure three points.
JYC pulled back one in the 47th minute through Nigerian recruit Jude N but couldn’t equalize despite dominating the second half.
