Kathmandu, Aug.16: Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori’s weekend visit to Bangladesh is on despite ongoing threats of flood and disease, agencies said quoting Bangladeshi officials in Dhaka.
The announcement came after two days of uncertainty over the visit.
Mori is also visiting India, Pakistan and Nepal during a tour of four South Asian states this month.
Nepal scored a major diplomatic triumph when Mori decided to include the Himalayan kingdom in his itinerary at the last moment Mori arrives for a brief 12 hour visit on August 25 to become the first Japanese Prime Minister to visit Nepal.
Japan is Nepal’s largest aid donor. Floods and landslides have also ravaged Nepal this summer killing 123 persons in 72 of the nation’s 75 administrative districts. At least 8,630 families have been affected causing Rs.440 million damage to infrastructure and crops.
