US ambassador to Nepal James F Moriarty met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, on Friday.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Moriarty hinted that the meeting was focused on the issue of management of arms and the proposed induction of the rebels in the government.

Though he would not explain about the issues discussed with PM Koirala, the US ambassador reiterated that the Maoists should not be inducted in the government before management of their arms.

Earlier, Moriarty had declared that his government would reconsider its assistance to Nepal should armed Maoists join the coalition government.

The meeting came a day after Koirala met with King Gyanendra and discussed with the country’s latest political situation.
