Moriarty meets Bohara

US ambassador to Nepal, James F Moriarty, met with acting general secretary of the CPN (UML), Amrit Kumar Bohara, at the UML central office in Balkhu, Kathmandu Thursday.

A press statement issued by the UML said that current political situation of the country, the recent understanding between the seven political parties and the Maoists and parties’ upcoming movement were discussed during the meeting.

Moriarty said the US government full supported the peaceful democratic movement of the seven-party alliance and expressed worry over the government clampdown on the movement as well as the violent activities of the Maoists, the UML statement added.

The US envoy has started discussions with the leaders of the parties that have announced nationwide general strike from April 6 to 9. He had met Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday.
