MMC move closer to title, Basanta scores another hattrick

Kathmandu, May 20 : Manang Marshyangdi Club ( MMC) maintained the winning streak with a second hat trick of the season by Basanta Thapa , lifting to close in for the title with resounding victory over Bansbari Club 5-1 while Jawolakhel Youth Club (JYC) out gunned Boys Sports Club 6-2 with hat trick from Sanu Bhai Thapa in the on going Martyrs Memorial League at the National Dasharath Stadium, Saturday .

Basanta Thapa not only scored the hat trick but also become the first player in the season with the double hat trick. Thapa later assisted his colleagues for widening the margin in today’s game too.

MMC from the outset of the game displaying an aggressive game as usual took the lead within 14th minutes and added second goal in 45muntes while after the lemon break added three goals.

Banking on all the top players like, Rajan Rayamaji and Basanta Thapa in the front with Basanta Gauchan, Kumar Thapa and Rajesh Shahi making the moves MMC throughout the ninety minutes hardly failed any pressure.

If front players had not missed the chances that galore they would have won the game with bigger margins. But it was a fortunate for Bansbari boys that they despite of being bitten in bush by MMC went down by only two goals in the first season but in the second half MMC added three more goals while they were lucky to curtail the lead in the 60- minutes through Bharat.

As the game was moving towards the break, Basanta Thapa consolidated lead in the corner kick from Banta Gauchan. After the lemon break, taking the ball wall under their wings, MMC launched the attacks from all sides of the ground, pushing the rival’s defenders on mercy.

In the 51-minutes, Basanta added the third goal through a perfect pass off Kumar Thapa. In the 66minutes, Basanta Thapa settled the score with the hattrick .

MMC looking for a big win were again in the action in the 78 minutes with Kumar Thapa finishing the work through a pass from Basanta Thapa.

In the day’s second game, JYC had little trouble overcoming Boys Sports Club. JYC completely dominated both the proceedings. JYC took the lead in the 12th minutes through Meg Raj KC and within two minutes consolidated the lead through Jung Bahadur Dhimal.

After going down with early two goals, Boys Sports Club went all out but due to the lack of cohesion among the players and casual approach all their attacks fizzled out in the middle.

After the lemon break, JYC continued to apply pressure in the rival’s post and the goal looked on the cards any time. In the 57 minutes Sanu Bhai widened the margin through perfect header.

In the 61st minutes, Boys Sports finally curtailed the lead through Rabindra Shrestha giving some solace of the Boys sports fans. However, things didn’t turn much to the favour for Boys Sports as they had to face more pressure from the JYC. In the 79 the minutes, Hari Shanker added the fourth goal while Sanu Bhai later added two goals, finishing Boys Sports to fight back. Though in the dying minutes, Rabindra Shrestha scored his second goal.
