Kathmandu, June 14 :Replies were furnished by the Ministers for Land Reform and Management and In-formation and Communi-cations to questions pertaining to their respective ministries during question answer time at the House of Representatives today.
Land Reform and Management Minister Siddaraj Ojha said the government has set itself a target of tackling the problem of landless settlers within the coming three years.
He also made it clear that the policy of the government is to indentify the genuine landless settlers, provide them some land for settlement and run an income enhancement programme.
In reply to another question, Mr Ojha said that those who have been living on empty lands for a long time will be distributed land only if it is established that they are genuine landless settlers.
Necessary home work is being done in this connection, he said.
Similarly, answering questions pertaining to the Ministry of Information and Communications, Minister Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta said the l50 line capacity telephone exchange at Taplejung Bazar, headquarters of Taplejung district is to be increased to 450 lines in the coming year.
Telephone lines are to be reached to Harsayi and Ladabhir VDCs in Sindhuli district by next fiscal year. The questions were posed by Til Kumar Meyangbo and of Ganga Prasad Nepal of CPN-UML.
