With the party leadership refusing to back his appointment in the royal cabinet, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Buddhuman Tamang, Sunday resigned from his party, Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP).

Tamang, central committee member of the RJP, announced his resignation from the general membership of the party after party chairman and former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa declined to back his appointment in the King’s cabinet.

Thapa not only ruled out the possibility of representation in the present government but also said the recent cabinet reshuffle would not help resolve the political crisis facing the country.

Likewise, Minister of State for Local Development, Roshan Karki, who has been working as the spokesperson of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), resigned from her post today. Party chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana accepted her resignation but her post in the central committee still remains intact, RPP sources said.

Including Karki, six RPP central members joined the cabinet which was reshuffled on December 7.
