Kathmandu, June 24: A day-long seminar of the chiefs of the Accounts Controller and Treasury Offices were held here yesterday in connection making the legal provision of the candidates at the elections submitting their details of election expenditures more effective on the basis of the experiences gained in the general elections 1999.
The Election Commission has assigned the chief of the offices of the Accounts Controller and Treasury Offices to monitor the expenditures incurred by the candidates in the last general elections.
Earlier Chief Election Commissioner Bishnu Pratap Shaha highlighed the objectives of the seminar.
Election Commissioner Birendra Prasad Mishra called upon the participants of the seminar to hold discussions on the yardstick to be adopted for evaluation inconnection with auditing of the expenditures and provide practical suggestions. According to the spokesman of the Election Commission, the participants have provided suggestions for monitoring effectively the election expenditures of the candidates.
