Security forces have seized medicine worth Rs 500,000, meant for the Maoist insurgents, from the mid-western district of Dang on Sunday.
Medicine worth Rs 500,000 meant for Maoist, seized by security forces on display Sunday in Ghorahi, the district headquarters of Dang. The rebels had forced local merchants to transport the medicine from Dang to Rolpa.
According to reports on Monday, security forces captured the medicine from Narayanpur of Dang as it were being transported towards Rolpa, a Maoists stronghold, on 8 donkeys.
Of the seized medicine, most were essential for treatment of patients with serious injuries, reports said.
The Maoist insurgents had forced a Rolpa based pharmacist – Govinda Chand- to transport the medicine from Dang to Rolpa. “The Maoists forced me to transport the medicine. They asked me either to transport the medicine or leave the place,” the Kantipur daily quoted Chand as saying.
Of the medicine worth Rs 500,000, medicine worth Rs 50,000 belong to Chand.
