Four opposition parties in the dissolved parliament will announce their detailed joint protests on May 4 against what they call regressive action of King Gyanendra to dismiss Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on October by assuming executive powers, the parties said Sunday.

The parties boycotted an all party meeting called by Prime Minister Chand to discuss forming a government negotiating team with Maoists and met instead to plan protests against the King Sunday.

Despite opposition to the King’s actions, the four parties had failed to reach an accord on a detailed protest plan nearly three months. The four parties also condemned last week’s police firing in Butwal killing one student and injuring several others and supported student protests.

They said they are not opposed to peace talks between the Government and Maoists despite their non participation in talks seeking support for the negotiations by PM Chand. nepalnews.com br April 13
