Maoist politburo member Matrika Yadav who is under military detention has started an indefinite hunger strike, a report posted in the official Maoist website Krishnasen Online said.
The undated report said Yadav, who is reportedly facing detention at an army barrack at Shivpuri, in the northern outskirts of Kathmandu, started a fast-unto-death a week ago demanding treatment as per the Geneva Convention.
Yadav, along with central committee member Suresh Ale Magar, was arrested in India and later handed over to Nepalese authorities five months ago.
